My Story.
My Mission.

In 1996 I was certified by the U.S Army as a Master Fitness Trainer and by the U.S. Air Force as The Commander’s Total Fitness Program Manager. Fitness has been my first passion and what I have dedicated my life to. 

I love helping people get healthy, it is a very satisfying feeling to know that you have improved the quality of life for thousands of people. I started out managing our unit’s fitness program at Ft. Hood, TX and ended up owning San Diego Core Fitness with my wife of 7 years now, Rachel. 

We still own SDCF but have hired trainers to run our outdoor fitness boot camp classes and have now put all our energy into Virtual Personal Training. We love the format. We can still be outside when the weather permits, we are mobile and can travel anywhere and we can be flexible with our appointments. All these things that we love about virtual personal training, we think you will love too and is why we started The Virtual Personal Trainer.

MY PROFESSIONAL STRENGTHS

I find that if you concentrate on what you love most, you find the most success. I really like unlocking the hidden strength in our body. While I’m not a traditional “Strength Coach” my method of training increases strength considerably through maximizing your kinetic chain.

PHILOSOPHY

I START WITH MOBILITY

After the assessment I often start programs with mobility and flexibility training. All too often we jump right in and get injured all to quickly looking for fast results. Your body needs to start pain and injury free. You should have appropriate mobility in all of your joints and they should be strong and without pain. Once we have reiforced your joints and brought balance to your body, we then increase the intensity of your training.

I believe that fitness isn’t just about looking a certain way. It’s about feeling good and having the physical ability to be there for your friends and family. Playing with my daughter and being active with my wife are the most important factors in my fitness journey.

I graduated from The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition then went on to Arizona State University where I received my degree in Dietetics. Since then I have been either employed by supplment companies or self employed, creating custom programs for clients in Southern California.

My passion started with nutrition and cooking and then it expanded to exercise and class instruction. I was principally a dietitian until I met my husband, Justin

MY PROFESSIONAL STRENGTHS

I’ve always loved music and dance. I often incorporate high energy music and dance like moves in my high intensity programs. I excel at cross functional cardio exercises that burn an enormous volume of calories in every workout.

PHILOSOPHY

I START WITH CORE STABILITY

After the assessment I start programs with core stabilization and strengthening. We will get into my trademark cardio exercises quickly, even in the first session but they all involve building your core up. I also like to take my clients through a series of mobility exercises to reinforce your joints and make sure that we are reducing your potential for common pain points like the lower back, knees and shoulders. Once we have reiforced your joints and brought balance to your body, we then increase the intensity of your training.

Both my husband and I share the belief that fitness isn’t just about looking a certain way. It’s about feeling good and having the physical ability to be there for your friends and family. Playing with my daughter and going on daily hikes with my family are important to me and is one of the main motivations for my daily fitness habit.
